"If you're looking for pop rock that's blessed with style and taste, look no further than Every Good Boy Does Fine, the debut disc by Philadelphia-based combo Fooling April. Lead singer/lyric writer Brian Kenneth's rich, resonant vocals punctuate the stylish interplay between his keyboards and Rado's guitar licks. Comparisons to Billy Joel are inevitable and somewhat justified, especially on poppy, spirited tunes like "Monet", "Backslide", and especially the rollicking "Chuckie & The Bone," but the band rocks more than Joel ever did. The best track is "C-4", a tale about a band member who doesn't have it together. The CD adds three live tracks, proving that Fooling April's skill is not a product of the studio. This is a band that would have absolutely been signed in the '70s, and deserve a major label deal today. High quality stuff!" -David Bash |
